So, where does My Konjac Sponge come from, and how do we make them?
Originally konjac sponge was developed by konjac farmers in Japan, My Konjac Sponge are handmade to the very highest standards in the purest areas in Korea, on Jeju Island, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Our sponges are made exclusively with the konjac fiber, a pure vegetable fiber taken from the root of the Amorphophallus Konjac potato plant, also known as konnyaku or elephant yam root.
The Japanese have been eating and using konjac for over 1000 years. It was originally introduced in Japan as a medicine and health food in the sixth century, and traditionally Japanese also use konjac as a beauty treatment for their delicate skin. Konjac potato consists of 97% water and 3% glucomannan or dietary fiber and konjac is rich in minerals and vitamins. It contains water, protein, carbohydrate, lipids, sodium, potassium, magnesium, iron, phosphorus, copper, zinc, vitamin A, vitamin E, vitamin D, vitamin B1, vitamin B2, vitamin B6, vitamin B12, vitamin C, pantothenate, niacin, fatty acids, folic acid and dietary fibre with a total of 16 amino acids. Because of all these wonderful benefits of konjac potato, konjac sponge is a perfect choice to be part of your daily skincare routine.

We have worked hard with our factory to conduct necessary tests such as microbial, pH alkalinity and composition tests to meet all USA, UK, EU standards.
Because of our high quality control, from ingredients selection all the way to precise production processes, we can proudly say that My Konjac Sponge are the softest konjac sponges in the market and our sponges have the best water retention ability. You can always tell the difference between high and low quality of konjac sponge from its water retention ability and by how fast the sponge returns to its original shape after you squeeze the sponge.
Why is water retention ability important?
Konjac sponge is naturally weak alkaline and it can neutralize the acidic substance on the skin through the layer of water between sponge and the skin. This layer of water is possible only if the konjac sponge has an excellent water retention and absorption capability.
Another benefit of having this thin layer of water between konjac sponge and your skin is that it makes the konjac sponge feels very delicate and refreshing to your skin. You do not need additional facial cleanser or soap, except if you really want to. If you choose to, you only need a fraction of the usual amount because the sponge will produce more foam and be able to clean more areas. So it’s better for your skin, better for the environment – and better for your wallet!
